What the three numbers mean

The calculator asks for three things because that is all the arithmetic needs. Being honest with yourself on each one matters more than any assumption we could add.

1

Calls you miss each week

Every call that rings out, goes to voicemail, or arrives while you are already on the phone. Most owners underestimate this one. If you are not sure, your phone's recent-calls list over a fortnight is a better guide than memory.

2

Share who would have booked

Not every missed call is work. Some are suppliers, some are price-shoppers, some are wrong numbers. This is the slice that would have turned into a paying job if someone had picked up.

3

What a job is worth

Your average invoice, not your best month. If the work leads to repeat business, the honest number is higher than a single job, but start with the single job and treat the result as conservative.

Why a missed call costs more than a missed call

When nobody answers, most people do not leave a message and do not try again. They ring the next business on the list. You never learn that they called, so the loss never shows up anywhere you would look for it — not in your accounts, not in your job system, not in a report.

That is what makes it worth measuring. Costs you can see get managed. This one is invisible by nature, which is exactly why it is usually the largest one nobody has put a number against.

Questions

How is the annual figure calculated?

Calls missed each week, multiplied by 52, multiplied by the share who would have booked, multiplied by what a job is worth. No adjustments, no assumptions of ours. Change any slider and the working changes with it.

Why does it feel too high?

Usually because the weekly figure is higher than it feels. A single missed call a day is five a week and 260 a year. The arithmetic is simple; it is the volume over twelve months that surprises people.

Does it account for people who ring back?

No, and that is deliberate. Some callers do ring back, which makes the figure conservative in one direction. Others ring the next business on the list and you never know they existed, which pulls the other way. Lower the booking-rate slider if you want to account for callbacks.

Is my data stored?

The sliders run entirely in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. If you ask for the breakdown by email, we store that email address and the figures you entered so we can send it, and for no other purpose.

What would it cost to stop missing them?

That depends on call volume, and we would rather look at your numbers than quote a figure you cannot rely on. If the number above is large enough to be worth a conversation, book fifteen minutes and we will be straight with you about whether it is worth doing.

Worth a conversation?

Fifteen minutes, no pitch. Bring the number you just worked out and we will tell you honestly whether an AI receptionist would pay for itself at your call volume.
